Soon anybody can sleep in the Merriweather District

A pop-up hotel will take over a portion of the Juniper building starting in April allowing potential tenants and the general public, such as Merriweather Post Pavilion concert-goers, an opportunity to book a room at the apartment complex for a night or two at a cost of $100 to $200 a night. Operated by WhyHotel, 70 apartment units will become available to rent while the the rest of the building is in process of leasing, which can take up to two years for an apartment building as big as The Juniper. According to a USAToday profile, WhyHotel operates pop-up hotels within newly-built luxury rental apartment buildings that have yet to lease out all their units, providing an alternative to a hotel or AirBnB.

The Juniper has a total of 382 units, including a mix of both affordable and market-rate apartments, and the complex will include a pool and terrace area, and of course, all the restaurants and retail planned below.
