A rapidly expanding Nashville-style hot chicken chain is heading to Little Patuxent Parkway.
A Hangry Joe's franchise is set to open at 10730 Little Patuxent Parkway in the shopping strip that includes 7-11 and Nothing Bundt Cakes.
Started in part by one of the Sweet Frog Frozen Yogurt founders, Derek Cha, Hangry Joe's offers counter-service sandwiches, chicken tenders, chicken and waffles – all at varying spice levels. Customers who order the highest heat level - Angry Hot - are required to sign a waiver. Korean-style nuggets and various sides round out the menu.
The chain currently has 3 restaurants in Maryland (Annapolis, Wheaton, and Travilah) and another 8 locations in Virginia. The website says that new franchise locations are coming soon to 4 more cities in Maryland and 13 additional places in Virginia. The chain also has locations in Texas and New Jersey.

An eagle-eyed blog reader tipped off The Merriweather Post that Hangry Joe's has leased a 1,750 sqft space in this building after finding the restaurant labeled on the leasing website for 10730 Little Patuxent. I swung by the retail strip and noticed interior construction has begun. The largest (at 3,750 sqft) and last-remaining retail space in this building is still available.
It’s now January 2024. I spent the summer riding past the building and they’re still not open. How can I become their best customer if they won’t open,
I’m Hangry that my chicken is not ready yet. Driving to Wheaton for my Chicken Sandie is getting old.
Yay! I've been hoping that space would fill. While I wish it was more of a sit-down restaurant, I'll be checking this place out.
