Yesterday, Bryant Woods Elementary School announced that fourth grade teacher Jerome Pickens has been awarded the prestigious honor of 2019-2020 Howard County Teacher of the Year. The Teacher of the Year Award seeks to recognize excellence in teaching, to encourage creative and quality instruction, and to contribute in a substantive way to the improvement of education. HCPSS is very proud of its accomplished teachers and seeks to recognize the outstanding practitioners that make a difference in the lives of our students and their families. The Teacher of the Year program is implemented by the Office of Teacher and Paraprofessional Development.
School Superintendent Michael Martirano tweeted his CONGRATULATIONS to Mr. Pickens.
Each year, Howard County selects two teachers of the year, each of whom go on to compete for a larger Teacher of the Year honor. Mr. Pickens will go on to compete for either the Maryland Teacher of the Year honor or the Washington Post Teacher of the Year award.
Congratulations to Mr. Pickens and to the entire Bryant Woods Elementary School team!
